Using your imagination for good or evil

Worry is a misuse of imagination.

We spend so much time making up what could happen in the future that’s bad.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put myself in a panic worrying about getting cancer or going blind or being old and homeless or being hit by a car or what someone is going to think of me.

YOU GUYS!!

What if we took all the worry BS energy and spent every day imagining our life as perfect?

Imagining what it’s going to be like when we have our widest awesome dreams come true.

Everyone would probably be a lot closer to living their dream life if we each spent time imagining it instead of imagining the worst.

Leave a comment. What do you worry about?

How to avoid the comparison trap

There is one surefire way to have zero fun playing Roller Derby:

Compare yourself to everyone around you.

At the end of the day your journey on the track is your own.

It doesn’t matter how much faster or slower anyone else is going.

The question is how are you comparing to yourself last week, last month, or last year?

Those who focus on progress and pace are those who will end up making the team.

If you spend all your time watching others blow by you you’re going to get stuck because you’re doing nothing to change it.

In this episode of the Krissy Krash Podcast I show you how to avoid the comparison trap and how to make real progress on the track and have fun doing it.

Listen here on Apple Podcast or Spotify. Make sure you’re following the show on your favorite platform so you don’t miss an episode.

Elevate your play

You want to get better at Roller Derby.

But you’re really hard on yourself.

Every time you do something wrong do you give yourself shit and it makes you just wanna give up. I’m gonna let you in on a little secret.

True athletes use mistakes as fuel.

They learn how to use situations gone wrong as a way to evaluate their performance and get better.

You won’t last long in this sport if you’re just going to beat yourself up every time you fuck up.

That’s why I created this new episode of the Krissy Krash Podcast teaching you how to get better at roller derby without making yourself feel like crap in the process.

How To Structure An Awesome And Engaging Roller Derby Practice

I went to school to be a teacher.

I never actually ended up teaching in schools however the concepts that I learned within education have helped me become a really great Roller Derby coach.

And now I want to pass on that knowledge to you.

Understanding how people learn is a key part of ensuring that your skaters walk away from each practice feeling like they have learned new skills and are now better at Roller Derby.

Too often coaches will throw complicated concepts at skaters without helping their bodies understand the mechanics of the movements first.

This results in players cerebrally understanding what they’re supposed to do but having their bodies fail to keep up.

In the latest episode of the Krissy Krash Podcast I have broken down the framework for building great practices into its eight key components.

I’m so excited to share this with you!

Struggling to get power in your stride?

Crossovers can feel nearly impossible to new roller derby skaters.

I’m sure you’ve seen the mechanics over and over again but you can’t seem to make your body execute the move.

For most new skaters the lack of strength and stability in the post leg makes it nearly impossible to create a powerful push using the stride leg.

The key to remedying this is to build strength and stability in the glute muscle of the post leg so that you can stride with power and confidence without feeling like you’re going to fall over.

I made this video for one of my Krash Course in Transformation clients.

It was so helpful for her that I thought I would share it here with you too.

Make sure you hit the save button and share this with a few teammates that need to work on the crossovers.

Then follow me and turn on notifications for my new post so that you don’t miss daily skills, drills, and mindset work to keep you in peak athlete condition for Roller Derby.

The ultimate proven secret to avoid burnout

The trending mantra in our society is always to be positive no matter the circumstances.

This constant chant of positivity unwittingly teaches us to always give a fuck about everything.

Sadly, giving more fuck doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be happier and live a better life.

If you want to live a healthier and more content life, you have to start giving a fuck about only what is truly important and nothing else.

We care too much about things that don’t matter, and this does nothing but make us feel bad about ourselves and burn out.

The key to getting out of this loop is to stop giving a fuck about our negative emotions like anxiety, anger, guilt, fear, etc.

Because it’s okay to have these feelings.

It’s normal to feel bad sometimes.

Beating yourself up for having certain emotions will do you no good.

In essence, maturity is about being able to only care about essential thing.

This simplification actually brings us genuine happiness.

We try to do too much in life, and this only results in stress and grief and burn out.

Choose to focus on what you really want to care about and develop a more constructive approach to work, love, and life itself.

Try this…

Start saying no to things that don’t add value to your life.

If you want to focus your time and energy on the things that matter to you, it is essential to say “no!” to everything else.

It is more important to miss out on trivial things than important ones.

So make it a goal to only focus on the essentials and ignore everything else.

Be totally ruthless with this and you can kiss burn out good bye.

Embracing imperfect

Three reasons you should fall in love with sucking at things:

1. Sucking at something is the only way to start getting better at it.

2. Learning how to do something trivial poorly (like a new hobby) and forgive yourself/not give yourself shit for sucking at it is a great way to learn how to go easy on yourself and more serious areas of life.

3. Sucking at something breeds humility and teaches us how to get over the obsession with looking good and being perfect.

What if every child was praised for trying hard and failing instead of praised only when they got something correct?

What if we started teaching the next generation that curated social media lives Are not fat but rather fiction and that the people behind them have often failed many more times than they’ve actually succeeded?

What if you start it by being a role model for all of the people around you and put down your mask of perfectionist that’s really just covering your fear of looking bad and fear of failing?

What if everyone embraced everyone’s imperfectness?

What a world this would be ❤️

You are amazing

It’s sad to know that you have no idea how amazing you are.

It’s devastating to see how the media has encouraged you to pick yourself apart and find only your flaws instead of your perfection.

But just for one day, I wish that you could see yourself the way the people that love you see you.

To wipe aside all of your should-be’s and would’ve been’s and just see yourself for who you truly are.

Pure love.

We have such a warped view of ourselves.

One of the first steps to building a loving relationship with ourselves is to clear away all the junk in the judgments.

One of the first things I do with my clients in the first few weeks of Krash Course in Transformation’s 12-week program is to unpack all that baggage and leave it on the side of the road so that we can start fresh.

Starting a new relationship with ourselves without dragging all the old shit with us.

Because what I wish for you is to see yourself the way you truly are.

Amazing.
