and believe in yourself,
there’s no telling how good a player you can be.
That’s because you have the mental edge.
The mental edge defines the winners from the wanna be’s. I heard that Bonnie D Stryoer did a great goal setting session at March Radness this past weekend. I find she and I have similar views on goal setting and becoming more by being the person you want to be and believing that youre going to make it happen. Having the confidence even when maybe you dont HAVE the confidence is often times the hardest but best thing to be able to do.
Is every all star on their best mental behavior all the time? No way. Keeping out the mental garbage is sometimes the hardest thing to do. Especially mid way through a long endurance session. Its easy for the little voice to get in there and talk you down from awesome. “Its ok, you had a long weekend, take it easy.” “You’re allready blowing past people, no need to push harder.” “Is this one lap really going to make a difference?” “My feet hurt.” “My quads burn.” We all have these little voices. The key is to fill yourself with positive self talk. As Jim Rohn would say “Dont let the weeds take the garden.” Clean that shit out. Daily. Fill your mind with positivity. Read good books, don’t engage in negative complaining, create productive conversations. Surround yourself with people who support you and believe in you and you will start to believe in you too.
Perfection is not attainable,
but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.
